Care Parents Forum was formed on 4th December 2000. It is a separate Non-government Organization (NGO) to Care Society but works closely with them to ensure the needs of people with disabilities and their families are recognized and that work is being done to meet these needs.

Care Parents Forum was created as a direct result of workshops run by Care Society. Parents of people with disabilities felt their understanding of issues faced by families would enable them to work together to achieve positive outcomes.

Objectives

• Create awareness programs for parents by conducting workshops and training programs.
• Through programs and activities provide support for people with disabilities and their parents.
• To establish Self Help Groups, provide counseling and create a harmonious relationship between parents of people with disabilities.
• Teach people how to treat and care for people with disabilities, in and out of the home.
• To help the parents to become involved in projects which help the people with disabilities to become 'able' members of the community.
• To give information to the parents in the form of books, magazines, newsletters etc
