Welcome to care Society

Care society is a Non-governmental organization registered in the Maldives in 1998 to cater to the most vulnerable groups, though initially the first five years of the organization's activities focused mainly on promoting the rights of people with disabilities. However, during this period Care Society also actively participated in National level forums, meetings and other such platforms to advocate and to promote the rights of people with disabilities and the most vulnerable groups.

Aftermath of the Tsunami in 2004, Care Society held a General Meeting and at this meeting a resolution was passed to add the following objectives to the mandate of Care Society. Care Society could not have broadened its activities without the approval of its members.

The Current Care Society's objectives are as follows:

  1. Promote rights of People with Disabilities
  2. Promote rights of children
  3. Promote rights of women
  4. Building capacity of civil society organizations including Community Based Organizations
  5. Assisting survivors of natural disasters like tsunami

The organization has undergone rapid expansion with approximately 39 staff in employment now.
